What is 'Need to find a...' ?

'Need to find a' is an internet based service which allows people to look for local services in their area.

Unlike many other directories, businesses can be recommended by members that have already used them, allowing others to benefit from their experience.

How does a customer search for a service?

They just enter their postcode and the product or service they are looking for, click the search button and we do the rest!

Alternatively, if they are just curious to see the products and services that are available in their area, they enter their postcode and click the browse button.

Our results will list all registered businesses that provide the requested product or service in the customer's area.

We produce an "electronic business card" for each registered business based on the information they provide. This is what we display in our search results.

Businesses that have registered for our Business plus package can provide further information about their services via web pages within the 'Need to find a' website or via a link to their own website.

They can also enhance their "electronic business card" by changing font and background colours and by adding a logo.

Recommendations are posted by our members.

This helps potential customers make an informed choice when selecting a business.

Who can register as a business?

Any business in the UK can register as long as they are offering a service or goods with a service element to domestic customers. We do not handle business to business services at this stage.

Why should I register as a business?

Registering as a business with 'Need to find a' opens up another opportunity for potential customers to find you.

Because we publish business reviews written by our members, potential customers have more confidence in who they spend their money with.

How much does it cost?

It doesn't have to cost you anything. You can register for a standard listing (Business name, address and 2 telephone numbers) for nothing.

If you would like to upgrade to our Business Plus package, we make a modest monthly charge for this service.

What is Business Plus?

If a business wishes to raise their profile within the 'Need to find a' website we offer our Business Plus package.

Business Plus members enjoy the following benefits:

• your entry in our search results will always appear above standard business member entries


• you can change the background and colours of your listing and even add a background image


• you can add a logo and strap line if you wish (e.g. 'never knowingly undersold')


• your listing can display a link to either your own website or to a set of web pages built by you using our Business Plus toolkit

I don't want to create my web pages myself!

We appreciate that designing your own web pages may not be your cup of tea. Don't worry, we have a range of solutions within our Business Plus package with a variable one-off fee depending on how much of the work you want us to do for you. And it won't cost you a fortune - our fees are extremely competitive.

What happens when someone recommends a business?

If a member submits a recommendation for a business that is already registered with 'Need to find a', it will be posted immediately.

If a member recommends a business that is not yet registered with 'Need to find a', we will contact the business first to see if they wish to register. If they do register, the recommendation will be linked to the business.

Customer feedback

We actively encourage our members to post recommendations for businesses they have used. This not only builds a picture of a business's competence and suitablility for a job, it also provides valuable feedback to you as a business that you are 'getting it right'.

Registering as a business

You can register as a business with 'Need to find a' and choose up to 5 products or services that you provide (as an example, a plumber may well register as a heating engineer and a bathroom fitter as well as a plumber).

Once you have registered and we have vetted* your application, your business will be listed whenever anyone within reach of your location searches for one of your designated products or services.
